BIOGRAPHY

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kathy comes from a family of artists and hence was surrounded by art from an early age. Self taught, Kathy is inspired by almost everything around her, but is especially drawn to the magic and power of the ocean, so in 1986 she moved to Marin County to live near the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.  Here, she painted seascapes and became a passionate kayaker, often taking a camera out onto the bay to capture scenes for her studio work.

Kathy greatly admires her contemporary artists here in the Bay Area, but she is influenced by her favorite artists such as: Robert Bateman, and the three generations of the Wyeth family:  N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth.

"I like the way light falls on things, along with their colors, shapes and movement.
It totally absorbs me. I love experimenting, trying to translate these elements into my paintings.”
